What are the top policy priorities for New York policymakers? From September to December 2022, we surveyed and spoke with over 230 state and local policy staff in New York to understand their policy priorities and top-of-mind policy concerns. At the forefront of New York policy leaders’ minds is public safety, with almost half of policy staff we interviewed ranking it as a top issue. Policymakers we spoke to say that environmental and climate issues are also priorities for the state, with more than a quarter of policy staff saying they are forefront challenges.
